He also participated in community service volunteer work.

Excerpts from Carson’s statement of goals:

“My goals have always been clear to me. I want to protect and help people from injustice. ...Once I complete my four years of college, I plan on securing a position with a Law Enforcement Agency. I would like to return to El Segundo to protect my city by joining the El Segundo Police Department. I may have an opportunity to stay in Lincoln to become a police officer there. I am open to possibilities. ...I chose UNL for several reasons. The first is that I want to experience life outside California. I have lived here my entire life.....I also have family near Lincoln and my mother is a 1984 graduate of NL. The main reason I am attending UNL is because the Criminal Justice program is rate 9th in the Nation.”
